Advocacy through song.
Spring 2022
Details and Deliverables:
This poster project pairs a typographic interpretation of Johnny Cash's song Man in Black with a message of advocacy for restorative justice.
Initial Concepts and Process
Johnny Cash wrote Man in Black to explain the entirely black wardrobe his fans often questioned, especially compared to the more "flashy" outfits of other musicians. His choice of black attire, as described in this song, was to serve as a reminder to spectators to be more thoughtful and involved in the issues we face in America, like wealth disparities, the violence of war, drug abuse, and incarceration.
